Senior Python Backend Engineer/Cloud Platform - 12 months + - Hybrid (NL)

Global Enterprise Partners is looking for a Senior Python Backend Engineer with strong experience in cloud-native platforms and DevOps environments to join a large-scale, high-tech organisation operating at enterprise level.

What you'll be doing:

. Designing, building, and maintaining Python-based Back End services and web applications
. Working on microservices architectures using HTTP and messaging-based communication
. Contributing to platform evolution with a strong focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability
. Applying DevOps best practices and contributing to CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployments
. Working with observability and infrastructure tooling to ensure system stability
. Actively participating in Scrum events and continuous improvement initiatives
. Handling conflicting requirements from multiple stakeholders and raising risks proactively
. Taking end-to-end ownership of team deliverables, including long-term maintenance
. Supporting and guiding team members through reviews, feedback, and knowledge sharing

What we're looking for:

. 8+ years of professional software development experience
. Strong hands-on experience with: - Python for Back End/web development
- Frameworks such as Django and FastAPI
- Microservices and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA)
- RESTful APIs and OAuth2
. Experience with infrastructure and observability tools such as: - RabbitMQ
- Elastic Stack
- Prometheus
- OpenTelemetry (OTEL)
. Solid understanding of DevOps practices and cloud-based development
. Excellent communication skills, including conflict resolution
. A pragmatic, forward-thinking mindset with the confidence to challenge and improve existing practices
. A team player who enjoys collaboration, feedback, and shared ownership

Nice to have:
. Appreciation for working in a formal, structured environment, including review processes and standardized communication

Details:

. Start: ASAP
. Duration: 12months +
. Location: Hybrid - Netherlands (on-site at least once per week, remainder remote)
. Contract Type: Freelance/Independent Contractor
. Rate: Competitive - based on experience

Additional information:
This position requires access to U.S. controlled technology under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Candidates must be legally authorized to access such technology prior to starting.
