Job Description
Senior Project Manager

Locations: Brighton, East Sussex & Fareham, Hampshire

Senior Project Manager to lead a portfolio of construction projects, each valued up to £20m. You'll provide leadership across multiple schemes, supporting and guiding up to four site based Project Managers while working collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external partners.

This role suits someone who enjoys developing people, building inclusive and high performing teams, and delivering projects safely, responsibly, and to a high standard throughout the full project lifecycle.

What you'll be doing Leadership & Team Culture
  • Lead and oversee a portfolio of projects, providing clear direction, support, and accountability.
  • Build and support diverse teams where people feel safe, respected, and able to do their best work.
  • Create and maintain a "Knowingly Safe" working environment.
  • Embed and champion an inclusive F.R.E.D.I.E culture.
  • Support the performance and development of direct reports through regular feedback, coaching, and constructive challenge.
Health, Safety & Wellbeing
  • Ensure the principles of CDM 2015 and relevant legislation are applied consistently.
  • Promote shared responsibility for health, safety, and wellbeing across all teams.
  • Ensure incidents and accidents are investigated thoroughly, with learnings shared and embedded.
  • Appoint and support a Temporary Works Coordinator, ensuring temporary works are planned, designed, and delivered safely and on time.
Planning, Design & Pre-Construction
  • Work collaboratively with designers to ensure designs are safe, buildable, inclusive, and achievable within agreed timescales.
  • Plan and facilitate collaborative workshops where appropriate.
  • Ensure all regulatory and pre commencement requirements are completed before site start.
  • Oversee the timely setup of site offices and compounds.
  • Encourage the use of innovation, technology, and modern methods of construction where these add value.
Commercial & Project Delivery
  • Work closely with Commercial and Risk teams to manage costs, opportunities, and project risks.
  • Support the selection of supply chain partners that align with project values and requirements.
  • Lead construction teams and partners to deliver projects in line with agreed budget, programme, quality, and scope.
  • Ensure resources are planned effectively throughout the project lifecycle, including appropriate demobilisation and redeployment.
Stakeholder, Performance & Reporting
  • Support recruitment and onboarding of project team members in line with resource plans.
  • Engage with the Performance Team to ensure all Construction Performance Framework/Balanced Scorecard (CPF/BSC) scoring is completed and evidenced.
  • Maintain clear, timely, and accurate internal and external reporting.
  • Communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders, adapting your approach to meet different needs and perspectives.
About you
  • Relevant CSCS card (or willingness to obtain).
  • HNC, Degree, or equivalent experience in a construction related discipline.
  • PRINCE2, APM, or equivalent project management qualification (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Experience managing complex construction projects or portfolios.
  • Strong understanding of CDM 2015 and health and safety responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of NEC and/or IChemE contracts and commercial principles.
  • Confidence using Office 365 tools to support collaboration and reporting.
  • Experience developing inclusive, high performing teams.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and make balanced, informed decisions.
