We have an exciting opportunity for a pro-active and detail-oriented Senior Project Manager to work on the successful delivery of our flagship 19,500-capacity indoor arena.
Once home to every UK-built Concorde, the Brabazon Hangars are being repurposed into a brand-new venue for Bristol and set to be the South West's top destination for music, comedy, sports, and entertainment.
In this role, you will assist the Project Director to oversee and coordinate project management activities on the indoor arena, conducting insightful analysis and reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes.
You'll play a key part in upholding and embedding YTL Construction UK's ethos of "Building the Right Thing," helping to shape systems, behaviours, and outcomes that reflect our commitment to quality, sustainability, and innovation.
What you'll doAs Senior Project Manager, you will work within the construction team, and lead the delivery aspects of the project, working with various team members to provide them with the necessary support.
You will play a key role in the project management of the pre-construction, delivery, and handover stages, taking responsibility for the development of logistics planning and integrated programmes. In addition, you will assist with leading the project team throughout the construction phase to ensure the successful delivery of the arena project in line with our stakeholders' expectations.
Your responsibilities will include working with the commercial team, providing subject matter expertise, mentoring, and guidance to others.
You will manage suppliers and contractors through regular communication, meetings, and workshops to foster good working relationships. Along with the Design Manager, you will also resolve design and construction issues in a timely manner to minimise construction disruptions.
Managing risks to avoid project delays, reputational damage, and contractual disputes will be required, along with producing progress and management reports. You will assess resources and forecast requirements to suit the project objectives.
Promoting a culture of openness, commitment, learning, collective responsibility and leadership is an important facet whilst delivering the arena project.
What you'll needThe successful candidate will be enthusiastic, self-motivated, and have a good understanding of, and experience in delivering major construction projects of at least £150m. You will have a strong working knowledge of construction methodologies, design standards, commissioning and handover processes, expectations on finishes, and client management.
Experience working on an arena or stadium will be significantly advantageous.
You will have the technical competence to understand the design and construction process in relation relevant design standards, codes & legislation, whilst developing, managing, and maintaining successful internal and external relationships.
In addition, you will also have:
- the ability to develop and lead a high-performing team to achieve set goals
- used document management systems (for example 4 Projects)
- experience with implementing project controls and planning tools aimed at managing the deliverables
- a working knowledge of typical construction contracts and professional appointments
- the ability to self-manage time and priorities and receive high level delegation of tasks and responsibilities
- the ability to communicate in a range of styles to suit different purposes, i.e., presentations, reports, meetings etc.
- the necessary skills to leader through action and behaviours, and be an enthusiastic team player, who can listen, understand and motivate
- the ability to maintain personal and professional development
- the ability to show resilience in challenging situations.
