Senior Project Manager - Aerospace & Defence

Role purpose: Responsible for leading and managing a complex, high profile international project that introduces new capabilities to Eaton and solutions for a key aerospace customer, with an end user in the defence sector. The role oversees the delivery of advanced air to air refueling systems, including associated controls and cockpit integration, as well as ensuring compliance with aircraft certification requirements.
- Deliver the project to agreed time, cost, and quality parameters.
- Lead, motivate, and provide clear direction to the project team.
- Plan, organise, coordinate, and oversee all project activities.
- Proactively manage risks, issues, and opportunities.
- Ensure effective and open communication across the team and with all stakeholders.
- Lead project planning activities and define resource requirements aligned to the agreed scope.
- Build and manage strong customer relationships, including leading regular meetings.
- Track, update, and report on overall project performance, including financials (EAC), schedules (IMS), work breakdown structures (WBS), and risk registers.
- Ensure adherence to all project governance and internal review processes.
- Control and minimise the impact of scope changes.
- Comply with health and safety responsibilities, taking reasonable care for yourself and others.
- Ensure sensitive data is handled and shared in line with company policy.
- Experience of managing complex projects of the same or similar functions and technology, with proven delivery track record.
- At least 5 years' experience working in cross functional, integrated project teams.
- Hold a recognised Project Management qualification.
- Demonstrated track record in achieving challenging milestones and budgets.
- Demonstrated ability to create plans (in Microsoft Project).
- Be able to facilitate problem solving and gain engagement in resolving day to day issues.
- Understand, document and manage risk.
- Strong knowledge of the product life cycle.
- Advanced leadership skills.
- Goal oriented, balancing task, team and individual needs to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including communication, motivation, and persuasion.
- Demonstrates drive, enthusiasm, initiative, and a commitment to continuous development.
- Methodical and highly organised approach to work.
- Effective facilitator and mediator, able to manage and resolve conflict.
- Ability to develop team members, improving their efficiency and effectiveness.
- Strong commercial and contractual awareness.
- Demonstrates broad and in depth knowledge of project management.
- Deliver the project on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Generate and deliver all required project metrics and reports in line with company standards and timelines.
- Achieve the required core competency level for the Senior Project Manager role within 12 months.
