Job Description

Our client, a global leader in market infrastructure and trading technology, is seeking an accomplished Senior Production Support Engineer to join their EMEA platform team based in Belfast. This hire will play a pivotal role in maintaining and improving high-performance trading environments used by major financial institutions worldwide.

This position is ideal for a technically strong engineer who thrives in fast-moving, business-critical environments. You will provide end-to-end support for complex trading systems, collaborate with developers and infrastructure teams, and drive automation and reliability initiatives to ensure consistently high service levels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a senior escalation point for application and infrastructure issues impacting trading platforms.
  • Carry out detailed troubleshooting and root cause analysis during live incidents, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal impact on services.
  • Work closely with engineering, DevOps and infrastructure teams to build monitoring, observability and resilience into all solutions.
  • Perform start-of-day checks and participate in a "follow-the-sun" support model alongside colleagues in other global regions.
  • Automate manual processes using scripting tools (Perl, Python or similar) to improve efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Manage deployments, testing, and upgrades across production and pre-production environments.
  • Provide specialist support for transaction and regulatory reporting workflows.
  • Contribute to strategic projects, including platform modernisation and cloud adoption programmes.
What We're Looking For:
  • 6+ years' experience supporting mission-critical systems in financial services (trading, platform, or venue experience highly desirable).
  • Expertise with Unix/Linux environments plus solid Windows Server support experience.
  • Strong knowledge of FIX protocol, relational databases (MSSQL, Oracle, or Sybase), and network troubleshooting (firewall/routing).
  • Practical experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure or GCP) and container platforms (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (ITRS, Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus or similar) and proven SRE practices.
  • Skilled in scripting and automation to improve operational performance.
  • Understanding of equity market mechanics and regulatory reporting flows.
  • ITIL foundation or prior experience in change-controlled environments.
Why This Role?
  • Join a globally recognised organisation with a strong reputation for innovation and technical excellence.
  • High-impact, hands-on position with autonomy to drive service improvements.
  • Gain exposure to cutting-edge technology, proprietary platforms and large-scale migration programmes.
  • Attractive salary and benefits, with excellent scope for career development.
