Job Description

Stott and May are excited to be working with an innovative software business that is disrupting the Smart Homes Space. They help customers by making buildings more climate-friendly, more comfortable, and more affordable using Smart connected devices (IoT), simple products and high processing and service quality.

Due to continued growth, we're hiring a Senior Platform / DevOps Engineer to join the Platform team. You'll help design, build, and operate Thei AWS- and Kubernetes-based platform, supporting product teams through reliable, scalable infrastructure.

What you'll do
  • Design, operate, and improve our AWS + Kubernetes platform (including hybrid/on-prem integrations)
  • Own key areas such as Kubernetes, observability, networking, or infrastructure as code
  • Run production AWS environments and Kubernetes clusters (upgrades, security, reliability)
  • Build and maintain GitOps workflows with Argo CD and contribute to CI/CD patterns
  • Operate and evolve our observability stack (Prometheus, Thanos, Loki, Tempo, OpenTelemetry)
  • Define meaningful SLOs, dashboards, and alerting
  • Work on Kubernetes networking, ingress, traffic routing, and Envoy-based components
  • Build and maintain Terraform modules; migrate existing infrastructure to IaC
  • Collaborate with the Platform team on design, incidents, and on-call
  • Support product teams with clear platform interfaces and documentation
Experience
  • 10+ years in infrastructure, platform, or DevOps roles
Strong AWS production experience, including:
  • Multi-account environments, networking (VPC, subnets, routing, LB), IAM and security best practices
  • Landing Zones and large-scale AWS setups
Strong Kubernetes production experience:
  • Operating clusters (EKS or similar), workloads, autoscaling, upgrades, and lifecycle management
Observability experience with tools such as:
  • Prometheus, Thanos, Grafana
  • Loki, Tempo or similar logging/tracing systems
  • OpenTelemetry for metrics, logs, and traces
Solid networking fundamentals:
  • TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, HTTP, routing, VPNs, firewalls, load balancing
  • Envoy (or Envoy-based systems), Ingress controllers, API gateways, SD-VPNs
Infrastructure as Code expertise:
  • Terraform and Terragrunt at team or org scale (modules, state, remote backends)
GitOps experience:
  • Argo CD, app-of-apps patterns, environment promotion, RBAC/ABAC
Nice to have
  • Crossplane in production
  • Experience in Platform / Enablement teams
  • Argo Workflows or similar orchestration tools
  • AWS Control Tower / Account Factory
  • German language skills (B2)
