Looking to step up and progress your career as a senior planning officer, this temporary opportunity allows you to work with Principal Planning Officers and your Team Leader to deliver development on strategic and larger development sites, handling a range of planning applications, enforcement, appeals and policy work.
You will be responsible for effectively assessing, processing and making recommendations on a wide range of planning applications in accordance with policy, best practice and government targets. You will also provide professional advice on a range of planning matters and support a development team approach to the customer.
Essential Criteria for the Role- A degree in a planning related discipline, or a relevant qualification or equivalent level of experience.
- At least five years post qualification planning experience with some experience working in a local authority planning service.
- A current driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use.
- Eligibility for full RTPI membership or being in the process of applying for full membership.
- Process and determine a wide range of more complex planning and associated applications.
- Provide professional advice face to face, over the telephone and in writing on behalf of the council regarding planning matters, attend councillor site visits and present recommendations to the relevant council committees as required.
- Assist with enforcement matters and prepare and present evidence for the council in respect of appeals against planning decisions through written representations, hearings and inquiries as needed.
- Review and check reports on planning and enforcement related applications where appropriate and sign these off under delegated authority.
- Undertake specific projects within the planning service, including working with the policy team to contribute to policy development such as neighbourhood plans for the district.
