Hyde Pig Company Ltd is a well-established 300-sow piggery located in Hinds, Canterbury. We are currently seeking a reliable and experienced Senior Piggery Stockperson to join our team and assist with the day-to-day management of our operation.

About the Role

This is a hands on role working closely with the farm owner across all aspects of piggery management. The successful applicant will play a key role in maintaining high standards of animal welfare, productivity, and farm operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist and report directly to the Farm Owner on all aspects of piggery management
• Carry out daily care of sows, piglets, and growing pigs
• Monitor animal health, welfare, feeding, and nutrition
• Perform health checks and administer treatments as required
• Oversee indoor housing, including feeding, bedding (straw), and cleanliness
• Ensure compliance with health & safety and animal welfare standards.

Skills & Experience Required

• Minimum 3 years' relevant piggery or livestock farming experience, OR
• A Level 3 (or higher) qualification in agriculture, animal science, or related field
• Strong understanding of animal husbandry and welfare practices
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good record-keeping and communication skills.

Additional Requirements

• Must be a New Zealand resident or hold a valid New Zealand work visa
• Must have a valid driver's licence
• Must have reliable own transport (no accommodation is provided)
• Must be able to provide a clean police record and pass a drug test.
• Minimum of 30 hours per week up to max. of 45 hours per week
• $28.00 per hour
