LOCATION: Birmingham - Hybrid
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £40,800 - £54,500 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLEWe're looking for a highly skilled and creativeSenior Editorto join our dynamicTV Social Edit Hubteam, to edit best-in-class digital formats and award-winning social promo across the iPlayer portfolio - working on titles like The Traitors, Gladiators and Drag Race UK, for some of the UK's biggest social media brands (BBC, iPlayer, Three).
This is a pivotal role that combines craft editing, technical leadership, and team development. You'll be responsible for editing high-quality original and reversioned video across multiple social platforms, while also providing technical post-production oversight to the team, helping to manage and upskill more junior members.
WHY JOIN THE TEAM
You'll be a highly skilled digital-first video editor with proven experience in the social media space, with excellent communication and collaboration skills. You'll have a passion for great young-skewing content for UK audiences, and for championing best practice in post-production. Based in Birmingham, you'll work with and help manage an engaging and skilled team of editors and producers, collaborating closely with production and campaigns teams in the wider TV Social team - to use your skills to evolve our content and ways of working.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
- Experienced digital and social editor - creating socially-native, original and reversioned content to a high standard for BBC accounts on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.
- Lead Craft & Tech sub-team in TV Social Edit Hub, managing Senior Post Production Operator and responsible for oversight of evolving post-production workflows and systems for edit team
- Line manage new Apprentices in Edit Hub team
- Play key role in guiding training and upskilling across the edit team.
- Online and audio finishing when required, with potential for iPlayer and website deliveries
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Experienced digital and social editor - proven ability editing short- and longform digital content for high profile media brands, and delivering for social platforms eg TikTok, Instagram, YouTube
- Advanced knowledge of and proven expertise with the Adobe Suite - in particular Premiere Pro and After Effects
- Experience of colour grading, finishing and audio tools
- Knowledge of evolving post-production workflows and systems, and experience of implementing in a team environment
- Experience of managing / upskilling more junior members of an edit team
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
- Experience of producing motion graphics for social content
- Experience in delivering edit training
- Line management experience
- Experience in creating digital content for young audiences 16-24, and indepth understanding of social platforms and formats
- Understanding of BBC Editorial Guidelines and related compliance
