Senior Backend Developer - SaaS PHP Laravel GCP - Netherlands (1 day office)
A fast-growing SaaS startup is looking for an experienced backend developer to help scale its platform and lead by example in a hands-on role. The company specializes in server-side tracking and has built a privacy-first solution. With a monthly growth rate of 30%, a recently launched new product version, and funding secured, this is an interesting time to get on board.
You'll be joining a team of 10 engineers (25 people total), including medior backend developers and DevOps engineers. There's strong seniority on the frontend, but backend needs a hands-on senior who can take ownership of architecture, scalability, and feature development. The role is 90% hands-on and 10% mentoring.
The platform is built with PHP and Laravel, and serves over 10,000 clients, processing 2 million rules of data daily. It enables companies to track data from different endpoints. It's simple to implement, making it a popular choice for marketing teams, agencies, and e-commerce players.
Responsibilities
• Build new backend features within the core SaaS platform
• Lead backend technical decisions, especially around architecture, performance, and scalability
• Mentor medior developers (light, informal mentorship)
• Collaborate closely with DevOps and frontend teams
• Work across the full SDLC: design, development, deployment, and iteration
Requirements
• 7+ years of backend development experience
• Deep experience with PHP and Laravel
• Taking ownership and driving technical direction
• Comfortable working in a startup environment
• Bonus: familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or Google Cloud Platform
• Fluent in English or Dutch
• Based in the Netherlands (1 day per week in-office)
