Senior Pharmacist - Production and Aseptic Services

ABUHB Pharmacy are pleased to offer the opportunity to seek applications for a motivated individual to join us as a Senior Pharmacist in Production and Aseptic Services.

This is a key position where you will work with the Principal Pharmacist in Production and Aseptic Services to manage and oversee production and aseptic services, ensuring delivery of safe, high-quality, and compliant products for our patients. You will be part of a talented and dedicated team, working collaboratively to advance our services, drive innovation, and maintain adherence to regulatory standards.

Main duties of the job

We welcome applicants with limited aseptic experience. This post may be offered under Annex 21 of the NHS Terms and Conditions of Service where a candidate does not yet meet full role requirements but can be appointed as a trainee and offered a structured training programme to allow development to required standard. During training, salary will be paid as a percentage of fully qualified rate in accordance with Annex 21 provisions. Upon successful completion of training and required competencies, postholder will move to appropriate spine point of the full pay band for the role. NHS Wales is in the process of creating the Transforming Access to Medicines Service (TrAMs) which will be hosted by NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership (NWSSP). The current service provided by ABUHB and this post may transfer to NWSSP as part of this programme.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Principal Pharmacist in managing the aseptic service at RGH, ensuring safe and effective manufacture of medicines across ABUHB sites.
  • Contributing to service planning, development, and delivery in line with operational strategy, through leadership of professional and technical staff.
  • Communicating effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including staff, patients, carers, and partner organisations.
  • Ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and all relevant standards and guidance.
