Job Description

TTM Healthcare Solutions (TTM) have partnered with a leading organisation to hire a Senior Orthotist in Castlebar, Mayo.

Working Hours: 35 hours

Location: Castlebar PCC

Salary Range: €63,279 - €74,509 (Pro Rata)

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver the Orthotics service which includes implementing the treatment prescribed by the referrer.
  • Carry out Orthotic clinics on an outreach basis based on clinical requirements and demand.
  • Provide and advise patients on application and use of orthoses supplied.
  • Review prescriptions submitted to Galway/Roscommon/Mayo PCCC's from external Orthotic suppliers, and approve based on clinical information, price range and budget constraints.
  • Use clinical knowledge and experience to carry out clinical assessments and recommend changes to treatment.
  • Ensure that a patient is given full explanation on the purpose of treatment in plain language and in written format.
  • Provide clinical advice where required.
  • Maintain clinical records of treatments/intervention of patients referred.
  • Carry out quarterly audit clinics to ensure appliances remain appropriate for a sample of clients, monitoring and reviewing audit trail.
  • Assess for, provide and adapt bespoke orthoses for clients.
  • Work with Consultants and other Allied Health Professionals to identify the most appropriate orthoses.
  • Work within the context of performance contracts, activity data and budgetary constraints.
  • Be familiar with suppliers and link with Procurement to research and identify best value products.
  • Participate in teaching and audit, and link with the Podiatry Facility as appropriate.
  • Order and process stocks, and when required, participate in the development of a computerised procurement system.
  • Be familiar with Health & Safety legislation, complaints procedure and other HSE policies.
  • Carry out any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  1. Possess a BSc (Honours) in Prosthetics and Orthotics from University of Salford, University of Strathclyde, or equivalent (Level 8) on NFQ maintained by QQI.
  2. OR
  3. Are registered as a Prosthetist/Orthotist, or be eligible for registration with the Health Professions Council UK (HPC).
  4. Candidates must have three years full time (or an aggregate of three years full time) post qualification clinical experience.

Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and management ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such that indicates a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.

Must be a resident in Ireland holding one of the following: EU passport or GNIB card with Stamp 1G, Stamp 2, Stamp 4, Stamp 4D, Stamp 5, or 4 EUFam.

Willing to undergo Garda Vetting.

International Police Clearance required (if lived outside of Ireland for more than 6 months after the age of 16).
