The Opportunity We're looking for a Senior Operations Manager to lead our Aggregates operations across the South West & Wales region. You'll be accountable for a varied asset portfolio, leading a team of managers to deliver: Industry leading health, safety and environmental performance Operational excellence and continuous improvement Strong financial and commercial results A resilient, future ready leadership pipeline This is a regional role, offering flexibility on location. Whether you're based in Bristol, Exeter, Plymouth, Cardiff, Swansea or elsewhere across the South West & Wales, we're focused on finding the right leader, not a fixed postcode. Reporting to the Regional Operations Director, you'll play a key role in shaping and delivering the annual strategy for our Aggregates business across the region. What You'll Be Responsible For As Senior Operations Manager (Aggregates), you'll lead through others to ensure safe, efficient and high performing operations. Key responsibilities include: Full ownership of regional operational performance, cost control and productivity Leading monthly KPI and performance reviews, ensuring actions drive measurable improvement Designing, owning and delivering the annual strategic plan for the region Overall budget accountability, ensuring financial and operational targets are met Driving a continuous improvement mindset, sharing best practice and identifying innovation Embedding the sustainability strategy, actively identifying more sustainable ways of working Aligning production closely with sales to maximise returns and minimise stock Ensuring materials are sourced and supplied from locations delivering the greatest value Leading customer complaints reviews, ensuring robust root cause analysis and corrective action Managing capex submissions, maintaining the 5 year investment and development plan Working closely with Land & Natural Resources on estate planning and permissions Developing and maintaining Quarry Development Plans Building, developing and retaining a high performing, diverse management team What We're Looking For You'll be an experienced operational leader with a proven track record in a senior role within aggregates or a closely related heavy materials environment. You'll combine strong technical and commercial expertise with the ability to lead, influence and deliver results through others. You will have In depth understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation and best practice Strong technical knowledge of aggregates operations, raw materials and production processes Proven experience leading through managers, with excellent coaching and delegation skills Commercial acumen, including setting and managing budgets and cost models Strong understanding of sustainability, supply chain efficiency and environmental impact Experience of minerals planning, quarry development, restoration and environmental compliance Confident problem solver with robust root cause analysis capability Strong stakeholder management skills at senior internal and external levels Analytical mindset, using data and trends to drive informed operational decisions Excellent organisational and strategic planning skills A full UK driving licence is essential as a company car or car allowance is provided with this role.
