We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Night Nurse at HMP Lewes to join our team. HMP Lewes is a category B male prison. Lewes prison is based near the centre of the historical town of Lewes, which is just a 5 minute walk away.
Additional training and opportunity for growth available in this role.
Hours 37.5 hours a week working Monday - Sunday 7pm-07.30am. The working pattern is 3 shifts x 11.5 per week for three weeks and 4 shifts x 11.5 every fourth week.
Salary You'll receive an annual salary up to £52,259 per annum - depending on experience.

Main duties of the jobAs a Senior Mental Health Nurse you will:
- Lead a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse-led service and prevent hospital admissions.
- Undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication
- Attend emergency response situations
- Assess patients, and undertake reception screening.
- Assess patients health needs using an evidenced-based framework and be able to risk assess using sound clinical knowledge.
- Ensure that you assess physical and mental health of prisoners on admission to the prison and throughout their period of custody so that any appropriate referral can be made.
- Make a clinical judgement with regard to any immediate need and long-term treatment.

Qualifications requiredRequired
- Registered nurse (Mental Health) or RGN
- Current professional qualification (NMC)
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development
- Experience of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
- Non-judgemental and compassionate approach
- Understanding of mental health policy, clinical governance and quality and outcomes framework, along with national standards such as NICE
