Job Description

Our client is seeking a Senior Network Security Engineer, the purpose of this role is to undertake the day-to-day operation and control of all aspects of the organisation's wide area and local area communications network infrastructure, including voice systems.

Office based with Travel around the South and Southampton

Key Accountability Areas:

  1. Use network management tools to determine network and voice traffic load, and monitor performance statistics to ensure agreed service levels are delivered.
  2. Create reports and proposals for improvement to support service delivery and drive continuous improvement in line with business needs.
  3. Identify and resolve operational problems, implementing agreed network or voice changes and maintenance routines.
  4. Coach and mentor network engineers in best operational practices to ensure consistent application of standards within the technical team.
  • Receives work in the form of specific objectives and/or work packages.
  • Works with and influences department managers.
  • Collaborates with immediate and wider ICT teams to share best practice and provide performance/development support when required.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and advice across the organisation.

Essentials:

The role requires significant technical expertise in network and voice infrastructure, supported by experience, specialist training, and/or professional qualifications.

  1. Understanding of how IT and voice networks impact business objectives and processes.
  2. Ability to explain technical designs and principles to non-technical audiences.
  3. Strong written and verbal communication skills; customer-focused, team-oriented, adaptable, problem solver, able to work systematically with minimal supervision.
  4. Good understanding of network and voice infrastructure.
  5. Recognised IT networking qualification (or equivalent experience).
  6. Detailed knowledge of networking protocols and standards.
  7. Full UK driving licence and ability to travel to multiple locations as required, sometimes outside normal working hours.
