We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health Team at HMP Kirkham, a Category D Prison located in Kirkham, Preston, with a capacity of 700 males.
We are looking for someone to support and coordinate a small team of two; you will have a good understanding of mental health pathways, providing data and quality assurance. The split of this role is 30% management and 70% clinical. The prison has its own Healthcare department where you will be based and the mental health team; you will be managing a team of a registered nurse and a nurse associate.
Hours- Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4 pm. Monday and Thursday are drop in sessions finishing at 6 pm.
- Weekend work as and when required.
You will receive an annual salary of £43,609 - £49,175 per annum depending on experience.

- Responsible for assessment and ongoing management of patients' mental health needs.
- Work collaboratively with the multi disciplinary team as an autonomous practitioner, managing a caseload of patients, assessing physical, social and psychological needs to develop a holistic health care plan.
- Contribute to nursing strategy and vision to provide outstanding evidence based care, seeking patient feedback, personalising care.
- Deliver non judgemental care, build therapeutic relationships and promote professional boundaries.
- Play an active part in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care following policies and procedures, always considering safeguarding.
- NMC Registered - Mental Health Nurse.
- Experience working in mental health settings, developing knowledge and understanding of this patient group.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
- Experience working collaboratively with other agencies and stakeholders in a multi disciplinary environment.
- Experience in hospital, community or prison environment (ideal but not essential).
