Job Description

Leading global professional services PLC company. As their business grows and continues to develop, they are looking to reinforce the Building Services team with the appointment of an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer in their Newcastle office. This role will suit an experienced mechanical engineer who is looking to develop and progress in an environment where your efforts and talent are recognised. What you'll be doing:

In this role, you will produce detailed design calculations and sketches in accordance with the project requirements. A sound knowledge of technical engineering design relevant to the role is required. You will liaise with Senior Engineers and Engineering Technicians regarding design and drawings as part of this dynamic team that values delivery. Work will typically involve survey, design, specification, contract administration, and site attendance, often in conjunction with a Mechanical Associate.

  • Carrying out detailed Mechanical Building Services Design Engineering on new build and refurbishment projects.
  • Assist senior staff in feasibility studies, concept, and scheme design stages.
  • Attend design team meetings.
  • Inspect and report on mechanical building services systems.
  • Undertake Mechanical design work including surveys, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ensure designs meet legislative and health and safety standards.
  • Utilise Building Services software for calculations.
  • Produce marked-up drawings or direct CAD design drawings.
  • Select and specify products, equipment, and installation standards.
  • Participate in project meetings, technical workshops, and risk assessments.
Who we're looking for:

Candidates should have a degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and experience aligned with IMechE or CIBSE requirements. Key skills include:

  • Design of mechanical systems from concept to detailed design (BSRIA BG6 Stage 4A): ventilation, chilled water, comfort cooling, domestic water systems, heating, drainage, HVAC controls.
  • Proficiency in Hevacomp, IES, or equivalent software.
  • Ability to interpret AutoCAD drawings.
  • Understanding of Building Regulations Part L.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
