Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

A leading research and technology organisation in Newport is looking for aSenior Mechanical Design Engineerto join their growing R&D team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting edge technologies within a hands on, innovative environment.

You'll take designs from concept through to prototype, working hands on with complex designs or innovative solutions.

What You'll Be Doing

• 3D/2D design and drafting of components and assemblies
• Concept development and design documentation
• Supplier liaison and component sourcing
• Prototype assembly, testing and validation

Essential Skills & Experience

• BEng/MEng in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
• Recent experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer
• Strong SolidWorks skills (modelling, drawings, simulation)
• Experience with high speed rotating assemblies
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, tolerances and manufacturing processes
• Ability to take designs from specification to tested prototype
