Job: Senior Marine System Engineer
Location: Basingstoke
Duration: 12 months
This role is Outside IR35 so you will need to provide the relevant documents you have your own LTD Company set up prior to your application being submitted.

The Role

A Senior Marine System Engineer is required as part of the Naval and Marine Operation Team in Basingstoke. They will be responsible for supporting my clients activities worldwide on different projects and provide technical support within the naval and marine operation Department on design and follow-on of new and ongoing projects with floating LNG and FPSO facilities.

The main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Studying and defining the best technical solutions for Marine Systems.
  • Preparation of technical specifications and functional requirements for the marine systems in FPSO and FLNG, during the Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) and execution on FPSO/FLNG projects.
  • Working on or monitoring, follow-on and review of FEED and EPC FLNG/FPSO projects and marine system equipment/P&IDs/PFDs.
  • Providing assistance to Company during Technical Clarification meetings and projects HAZID/HAZOP.
  • Reviewing project documentations provided by Contractors/Shipyards.

Candidate's qualifications, professional experience and skills required for the position

  • Knowledge of Classification Society Rules, SOLAS, MARPOL as applicable to FPSO and FLNG is required for this position.
  • Experience of working on FEED and EPC LNG projects, Seagoing experience as second/chief engineer, experience in working with Oil Tankers/LNG Carriers.
  • Experience as a Classification Society surveyor or Tanker/LNG Ship Vetting engineer would be a major advantage for this position.
  • Experience in active participation on project's HAZID/HAZOP is required.
  • OPITO certified for offshore travel would be preferable to cover this position.
  • Candidate must have specific skill sets in the design of ships' marine systems, ie slop and drain systems, bilge and ballast systems, Inert Gas, production distribution and venting, diesel and gas power generation and their auxiliary systems, freshwater production, compressed air, etc oil and gas loading, storage, gas liquefaction and offtake systems, LNG tanks design and maintenance.
  • Candidate must have skills and experience on preparation and review of projects P&IDs/PFDs relevant to marine systems.
  • Degree in Naval Engineering with focus on Marine Systems.
  • Available for short business trips outside UK.
