Requirements
  • Strong functional Payroll knowledge and a minimum of 7 years' experience in a large payroll department processing EMEA and/or Asia payrolls, especially in the UK, France & Germany
  • Experience managing a payroll team and having responsibility for reviewing payroll results
  • Working knowledge of withholding tax, related tax filings, tax policy and employment regulations as they relate to reporting in key countries where WeWork operates
  • Critical thinking and the ability to analyze and interpret payroll data
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles, ability to understand impact of payroll activity on financial statements and ability to partner with the Compensation/Payroll Accounting team in analyzing and explaining P&L and Balance sheet variances
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams, vendors and regions
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with payroll team members, internal partners, stakeholders, and vendors to deliver high quality service
  • Ability to handle numerous priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Knowledge of working with CloudPay is a plus
  • Workday knowledge is a plus
  • University degree required
What the job involves
  • WeWork is currently looking for a Senior Payroll Manager to join our International Payroll team in London. The Senior Payroll Manager will lead the delivery of payroll services in a combination of EMEA and Pacific countries in a managed payroll solution with CloudPay through strong partnership with their payroll service providers to deliver high service levels to employees, statutory compliance and effective cost management of the function
  • They will be responsible for working with the International Payroll Manager and the Global Head of Payroll to manage the day-to-day operations for delivery of payroll services. This role will engage with vendors and ensure they are performing in accordance with agreed upon Service Level Agreements and provide oversight of the payroll staff and the vendor operations teams to deliver payroll in a timely and accurate manner
  • To do this successfully, a candidate must have a strong technical background in Payroll, including a basic knowledge of accounting and solid working knowledge of employment tax matters and internal controls. They will also be involved in projects and activities which arise and which the Global Head of Payroll assigns to them
  • Assist Global Head of Payroll in executing the processes and managing the controls needed to operate effectively while managing risk
  • Manage the day-to-day payroll operations, coordinating with the payroll team and vendors to deliver pay accurately, timely, effectively, within regulatory, labor and tax guidelines
  • Assist with any internal and external audits and examinations, including internal audit, SOX, tax audits, etc
  • Help develop the payroll team members through sharing knowledge, providing learning opportunities, and feedback on their performance
  • Coordinate with service providers in the preparation of the UK PSA filing, HMRC examinations and other tax agency requests as they arise
  • Maintain strong and productive relationships with the People team, including Systems and Benefits, Finance, Legal and other internal stakeholders and partners
  • Support the Global Head of Payroll to manage the payroll function such that there are minimal issues and no compliance failures
