Senior Manager, Indirect Tax Planning

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Amazon's Pan EU Indirect Tax Planning and Advisory team, reporting to the Indirect Tax Director. This is a position at the senior manager level, based in London but likely to require regular travel to other European locations.

The role is focused primarily on Amazon's Retail business but may also support our operations/logistics sector and international expansions.

The successful candidate will provide business partnering to senior level colleagues in business units and key partner teams such as finance, legal, accounting and technology.

Typical responsibilities include new product/business launches, responding to legislative and case law changes, assisting with restructures and re orgs, and providing significant input and leadership into tax authority audits, queries and investigations.

The role will primarily focus on VAT, but also provide strategic leadership on the non VAT indirect tax portfolio, including excise duties, sugar taxes, plastic packaging taxes and other items.

Excellent technical skills in VAT and working familiarity with other indirect taxes are required, along with the ability to effectively manage external advisers.

The successful candidate should be comfortable and familiar with process and technology in tax matters, including emerging technologies such as generative AI. No coding experience is required; an ability to work with such tools is essential.
