Senior Manager - General Practice

March, Cambridgeshire
£60,000 - £65,000

A well-established accountancy practice is seeking a Senior Manager to join its General Practice team in March. This is a key leadership role within a growing department, responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of corporate and specialist clients, delivering high-quality compliance services, and playing a central part in both client relationship management and team development. The role offers a strong blend of technical responsibility, people management, and client-facing work within a supportive and collaborative environment.

Role Responsibilities
  • Full management of a client portfolio, delivering general practice, compliance and advisory services.
  • Review and finalise accounts, tax returns, VAT returns and related client deliverables.
  • Corporate tax, finance, consolidations, forecasting and projections.
  • Oversee company secretarial work including statutory filings and confirmation statements.
  • Manage billing processes and support debt recovery where required.
  • Act as key client contact, maintaining and developing strong client relationships.
  • Identify opportunities for additional services and support business development initiatives.
  • Attend client meetings, internal partner/manager meetings and local networking events.
  • Supervise, review and sign off work produced by junior staff.
  • Manage workflow planning, budgets and compliance processes.
  • Lead, mentor and develop direct reports including appraisals, training and performance management.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and team development.
  • Ensure quality and compliance standards are consistently met.
Personal Requirements
  • ACA, ACCA qualified or QBE with strong relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in general practice within a UK accountancy practice environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge across accounts, tax, VAT and company secretarial work.
  • Experience managing client portfolios and supervising staff.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex matters clearly.
  • Confident, organised and able to work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Proactive, self-motivated and comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
  • Experience with CCH software (advantageous).
