Job Description

It's a great time to join our busy, customer-focused, and proactive Licensing Team as a Senior Licensing Enforcement Officer.

Keeping people safe is at the heart of everything we do, and you will be given the unique opportunity to work across our socially and economically diverse borough, helping us to develop and deliver a high-quality service across the full range of licensing regimes, including taxis, Licensing Act 2003, Gambling Act 2005, Animal licensing and street trading.

As a Senior Licensing Enforcement Officer, you will play an active role in horizon scanning and preparing for the implementation of emerging legislation and new processes and procedures.You will also be involved in our digital transformation journey, contributing to the implementation and ongoing development of a new ICT system. This will support increased customer self service and improved outcomes for residents and businesses.The role also offers opportunities for collaboration with colleagues across the Council as well as with external partners.

To be successful in this varied and rewarding position, you will bring:

  • A relevant licensing or regulatory qualification, or significant experience and knowledge enabling you to fulfil the responsibilities of the role.
  • Highly effective communication and investigative skills.
  • Experience in providing advice and guidance on regulatory and/or enforcement matters
  • Proven knowledge of legal processes and effective evidence gathering.
  • The ability to balance competing demands, prioritise tasks and work effectively to deadlines.
  • A willingness to learn and develop, through formal and on the job-training, as well as self-guided research.
  • A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle, to enable you to move around sites in the Borough where much of the team's work is delivered.

This role requires flexibility, including occasional evening and weekend work, to meet the needs of the service.
