Role Summary

Senior Lecturer in Secondary Education Professional Studies & Placement Learning.

Birmingham City University has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Secondary Education specialist within the field of Initial Teacher Training to join our secondary team as Senior Lecturer in Professional Studies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead professional studies with expertise in the evidence base that underpins the ITT Core Content Framework and leading teacher development.
  • Provide leadership and accountability for curriculum enhancement.
  • Support the ITT Partnership Lead with securing school placements through partnership working and undertaking school visits as a professional lead mentor to quality assure school based training.
  • Participate in Open Days, Get into Teaching events, and other key activities that drive recruitment.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and share good practice across the team.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Hold a degree in a secondary subject specialism and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience in mentoring in Initial Teacher Education (ITT) is highly desirable.
  • Enhanced DBS check is essential for this role.
Employment Information

The appointed candidate will normally be employed through our subsidiary company BCU Support Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Birmingham City University. Appointees with prior LGPS membership who wish to enter the LGPS scheme will be able to do so and will be employed by Birmingham City University directly.
