Job Title:Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer

Location:London (onsite)

Rate:£500-£525/day (inside IR35)

Contract:6 months initial (with strong potential to extend or move permanent)

Start Date:Early October (immediate availability preferred)

Overview

This is a high-profile contract with a leading London-based insurance company, starting early October. The role offers a 6-month initial engagement with the strong potential to extend or transition into a permanent role. We're seeking a skilled Infrastructure Engineer with proven experience in cloud and enterprise technologies, who is adaptable, eager to learn, and keen to grow with the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise infrastructure solutions (on-prem and Azure cloud).

  • Lead infrastructure upgrades and migration projects.

  • Provide 3rd line support and act as an escalation point for complex technical issues.

  • Ensure system security, compliance, and performance across all platforms.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust and scalable IT services.

  • Document processes, configurations, and procedures.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years' experience in a senior infrastructure role.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies (Exchange, Active Directory, Windows Server).

  • Hands-on experience with Azure and Microsoft 365.

  • Security & backup tools: ZScaler, Mimecast, Commvault.

  • Virtualisation (VMware, Hyper-V).

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement.

Desirable

  • Certifications: e.g. MCSE, Azure Solutions Architect, ITIL.

  • Experience with automation tools (PowerShell, Terraform).
