Job Purpose

The Senior IT & Systems Officer isa full-time, permanent role, with a base location in Clonsilla Road, with the requirement to travel and work throughout the branch network in Clonsilla Road, Blanchardstown Centre, Rowlagh and West Cabra.This role will play a key part in delivering secure, resilient and future-focused technology services across the Credit Union and will act as the organisation's primary internal technical specialist, supporting the CTO in maintaining and developing the technology environment.

Reporting directly to the Chief Technical Officer, the ideal candidate will have sound judgement and proven experience supporting technology across a multi-site environment. They will be able to lead IT initiatives, contribute to future-proofing the organisation's technology environment and support readiness for emerging regulatory, operational resilience, cyber security, digital and AI-related developments, including DORA-related requirements. Credit union or financial services experience would be an advantage but is not essential where the candidate can demonstrate the technical depth, adaptability and governance awareness required for the role.

Main Responsibilities
  • Ownership of technical support and issue resolution across desktop, laptop, mobile, printer, Microsoft 365 and core business application environments.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, escalating specialist infrastructure, network or security matters to external IT providers where required and maintaining ownership through to resolution. Act as the internal coordinator for cyber security activities, including vulnerability management, remediation actions, security reviews and user awareness initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain IT policies, procedures, user guidance and technical documentation to support consistency, governance and operational resilience.
  • Support the maintenance and testing of business continuity, disaster recovery and cyber incident response arrangements.
  • Oversee routine IT maintenance activity, including update coordination, backup monitoring, security checks, access controls and supplier follow-up where specialist support is required.
  • Lead and coordinate IT projects and technology initiatives across sites, including hardware, software, systems and process improvements.
  • Provide end-user training and assistance to maximise the effective use of systems and applications. .
  • Work with the CTO to identify technology improvements, future-proof IT services, strengthen internal IT capability and support readiness for regulatory, cyber security, digital and AI-related change.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls. Assist with onboarding and offboarding of employees.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory and Windows Server environments.
  • Good understanding of networking, infrastructure and IT security principles.
  • Experience supporting IT projects, technology change initiatives and third-party suppliers.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Well-developed organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Relevant professional certification (e.g. Microsoft, Azure, Networking or Cyber Security) is desirable.

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in an IT support, systems administration or technical operations role.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Windows environments, user access management, and business applications.
  • Experience in a credit union, financial services or other regulated environment desirable.
Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cyber Security or a related discipline.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory and Windows Server environments.
