Job Description
Senior Investigator - Markets and Securities Services Investigations

Location: London, GB, E14 5HQ

Responsibilities
  • Lead complex investigations into allegations of market misconduct, market abuse, and material regulatory breaches in or affecting the Global Markets and Securities Services business, ensuring outcomes that protect our customers, our organisation and the financial markets in which we operate.
  • Support the Global Head of MSS Investigations in their role as Conduct and Culture Regulatory Compliance Champion to identify emerging Conduct and Culture risks.
  • Set investigative strategy, apply sound judgement in ambiguous scenarios, and ensure findings are robust, defensible and delivered with precision.
  • Direct document review and evidence assessment, maintaining rigour and consistency in investigative outcomes.
  • Conduct interviews with employees and other relevant parties, extracting key facts while demonstrating sensitivity, empathy and professionalism.
  • Engage and influence senior business leaders, Legal, HR and Compliance, often in sensitive, high stakes and confidential contexts.
  • Navigate investigations spanning diverse regulatory environments, adapting approach to local requirements while maintaining global standards.
  • Ensure appropriate upward reporting and timely escalation of investigative findings to Global Markets and wider Compliance leadership teams.
  • Where appropriate, identify actions, lessons learned and control enhancements to strengthen global markets controls and ways of working.
Qualifications
  • Experienced senior investigator with demonstrable expertise in handling complex, sensitive investigations.
  • Experience working in house, at a regulator or in private practice is highly desirable.
  • Ability to dissect complex scenarios, weigh competing considerations and reach defensible conclusions.
  • Confidence to challenge constructively, hold difficult lines and engage senior business, legal and regulatory compliance stakeholders with authority.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion, empathy and resilience, maintaining independence of thought under pressure.
  • Ability to communicate complex information succinctly with precision and gravitas.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously, balancing assertiveness with diplomacy and maintaining composure in challenging circumstances.
