Senior HSE Advisor - Overview

Key Responsibilities
  • Support implementation & maintenance of HSE management systems across the site.
  • Ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety & Environmental legislation, company standards & customer requirements.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, audits, behavioural safety observations & track corrective actions to completion.
  • Lead and support incident, accident, near miss & environmental event investigations.
  • Monitor HSE performance data, produce reports & identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Support environmental monitoring programmes - waste management, recycling, energy consumption, water usage & emissions reporting.
  • Build & promote a proactive safety culture through leadership visibility, coaching, engagement & behavioural safety initiatives.
  • Lead external audits & regulatory visits while supporting customer, certification & compliance audits.
  • Support delivery of HSE training programmes & provide practical coaching to reinforce safe working practices.
  • Support development & implementation of HSE strategies & initiatives aligned to business objectives & sustainability goals.
Skills & Experience
  • NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • NEBOSH Environmental Management qualification.
  • Previous experience in Health, Safety & Environmental Management.
  • Experience with sustainability programmes, carbon reporting, & circular economy initiatives.
  • Knowledge of polymer chemistry, additives & chemical hazard management.
  • Experience with process safety, automation safety & machine safeguarding.
  • HSE leadership experience within plastics, chemicals or high risk manufacturing environments.
  • Proficient IT skills - Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation & plastics sector regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven track record of developing & implementing HSE strategy across multi site operations.
  • Experience with ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 management systems.
  • Strong leadership, influencing & communication skills.
  • Valid UK Driving Licence.
