Job Description

Adare & District Nursing Home and Memory Care Unit are now looking for caring, empathetic and reliable Senior Healthcare Assistants to join their multi disciplinary team.

Candidates must have experience as a Healthcare Assistant and relevant qualification in QQI completed or in progress (or equivalent).

The Senior Care Assistant Role

The Senior Healthcare Assistant works as a member of the team delivering day to day care to the residents. The Senior Healthcare Assistant works within the Care Team to direct and oversee the day to day quality of non-clinical care.

As a team member, the Senior Care Assistant contributes to the fulfilment of the Mowlam Healthcare Philosophy of Care, ensuring the residents privacy, dignity, respect and choice and supports the Named Nurse concept in the delivery of nursing care.

What does this role entail?
  • Oversee the Care Assistant Teams to ensure that best working practices are implemented
  • Disseminate information and work directives issued by senior management
  • Participate in induction programmes and assist in identifying training needs and discuss same with Home Manager
  • Ensure Individual Care Plans are delivered appropriately
  • Promote mobility of the resident, supervising and assisting as necessary to ensure residents retains optimum mobility
  • Maintain high levels of communication between resident's family and staff, developing good relationships
  • Participate in organising and carrying out devised activity programmes
  • Assisting in the maintenance of a high standard of cleanliness in the Home
  • Contribute to the maintenance of Health and Safety in the Home
  • Any other duties deemed necessary by the Nurse in Charge
Qualifications/Skills
  • FETAC/QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare or equivalent
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment (with a good knowledge of HIQA standards)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to lead and be part of a team
  • Caring, kind, patientand empathetic nature
  • Fluent level of English both written and oral
