Aurora and RDS Console is part of AWS Utility Computing (UC), delivering product innovations from foundational services such as Amazon S3 and EC2 to new cloud services that set the industry apart. As a member of UC you'll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, IoT, Platform, and Productivity Apps services, including specialized security solutions for customers.
Key job responsibilities: As a Senior front end engineer in the RDS Console team in Dublin, you will lead the technical efforts of our team, mentor colleagues, and design, develop, and deploy high quality solutions that help customers interface with the RDS service at scale.
Our team values work life balance. We are co located in Dublin offices, with core in office hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and flexibility to structure your schedule. The role includes mentoring, technical leadership, hands on work, and on call responsibilities (once every 4-5 weeks) with an emphasis on improving operational posture without overnight paging.
A day in the life & About the team: You'll work in the AWS Developer Tools org, using generative AI and foundation models to re imagine the builder experience. From IDE to web based tools, you'll explore new technologies and deliver creative solutions for engineers worldwide.
The RDS Console team owns the console end to end and supports all service teams within RDS and Aurora, including:
- Aurora MySQL and Aurora PostgreSQL
- Open source solutions such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MariaDB
- Commercial engines like Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and IBM
- Experience with common front end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node
- Experience building web applications with React and modern web technologies
- Experience with AWS or cloud technologies
- Experience mentoring or training the engineering community on complex technical issues
- Strong knowledge of state management patterns, RESTful APIs, and modern build tools (Webpack, Vite, or similar)
- Knowledge of relational databases (MySQL) and SQL querying tools
