Job Description
As the Senior Financial Crime Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of transaction monitoring, conducting financial investigations, and ensuring compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC) protocols. Your expertise in transaction monitoring systems and investigation methodologies will play a crucial role in identifying and preventing financial crimes, thereby safeguarding the interests of our clients and the institution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transaction Monitoring: Oversee and manage transaction monitoring systems, ensuring they are up-to-date, calibrated, and effectively flag suspicious activities for further investigation.
- Financial Investigations: Lead complex financial investigations, including money laundering, fraud, terrorist financing, and other illicit activities, working closely with internal and external stakeholders.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct periodic risk assessments related to financial crimes, identifying potential vulnerabilities and recommending appropriate mitigation measures.
- Reporting: Prepare comprehensive reports on financial investigations, suspicious activity trends, and risk assessments for presentation to senior management and regulatory authorities.
- Collaboration: Foster strong working relationships with relevant departments, law enforcement agencies, and regulatory bodies to share information and enhance the effectiveness of financial crime prevention efforts.
- Training and Development: Provide ongoing training and development for team members to enhance their knowledge and skills in TM, financial investigations, and KYC processes.
- Technology and Innovation: Stay informed of advancements in transaction monitoring technology and investigation techniques, advocating for the adoption of tools and practices that enhance the unit's capabilities.
- Compliance: Ensure all activities are conducted in strict adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies, promoting a culture of compliance within the unit and the wider organization.
Key Skills and Experience:
- In-depth knowledge and expertise in transaction monitoring systems and financial investigation methodologies.
- Extensive experience in conducting and overseeing complex financial investigations, including expertise in identifying and mitigating financial crime risks.
- Strong understanding of KYC compliance and customer due diligence processes.
- Familiarity with issuing and acquiring processes within the banking industry is advantageous.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions based on thorough analysis of financial data and patterns.
- Effective leadership and team management capabilities, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team of professionals.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex information to various stakeholders.
- Proactive approach to staying informed about the latest trends and developments in financial crime prevention and investigation.
- Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and legislation, with a focus on anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing (CTF) requirements.
