Senior Financial Accountant

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Finance Team in the Manchester office. We are seeking a financial professional with strong financial accounting skills and the ability to transform systems and processes to deliver high-quality financial services.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in senior finance roles, with in-depth knowledge of UK Central Government accounting requirements (though this is not essential). Experience in process improvement and finance/reporting system implementation within a mid-sized organisation is also desirable.

Reporting to the Director of Resources, you will demonstrate excellent leadership and management skills. You will oversee the delivery of PHSO's financial accounting functions and manage the accounts payable and payroll teams. This hands-on role involves preparing year-end financial statements, advising on technical accounting issues, and ensuring compliance with the PHSO financial control framework.

The successful candidate will be CCAB Qualified or hold an equivalent qualification from a recognized accountancy body, with experience in preparing financial statements under Government accounting FReM standards and managing financial operations within the public sector.

You should have the ability to interpret financial standards, analyze complex information, and summarize key issues effectively.
