Senior Financial Accountant

We're looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our team based at our offices in s'Heerenberg. Netherlands.

You will support the business with European regulatory compliance for the Dutch entity, ensuring it complies with financial regulations. You will be responsible for gathering and monitoring financial data, preparing financial statements (balance sheets and income statements).

This is a highly technical role and experience in EU accounting and compliance is mandatory.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to get involved and help build a fantastic and best in class Finance team. The role works alongside our UK, European and US teams on the HUFFY and other brands in the United Wheels portfolio.

JOB DESCRIPTION / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support month-end and year-end closing to fulfill both internal reporting and external statutory reporting.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that the subsidiary complies with all relevant financial regulations and tax laws in Netherlands, Spain & France. Understand the implications of cross-border transactions and ensure compliance with local tax laws.
• Prepare and ensure timely submission of Dutch VAT returns, EC sales, Intrastat and other compliance
• Liaise with external tax consultants to ascertain tax obligations, tax planning and strategy to optimize the tax position of the subsidiary. Facilitate timely and accurate tax payments and maintain meticulous tax accounting records
• Preparation of financial statements for Dutch entity - bringing outsourced tasks in house.
• Internal Controls: Assist in implementing and maintaining internal controls to safeguard the company's assets and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting.
• Audit Support: Assist in internal and external audits for local and group company, providing necessary documentation and explanations regarding financial practices and records.
• Financial Analysis to support decision-making, including variance analysis, profitability analysis, and cost analysis.
• Assist in streamlining financial processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness within the accounting function.
• Supervise and perform reconciliations for the general ledger account reconciliations
• Assist the Finance Director with cash flow forecasting.
• Support on ad-hoc analysis and projects as requested
• Support other accounting and finance team members with various tasks when required.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• 5 to 10 years of relevant experience, including accounting/audit expertise; a recognized accounting degree or qualification is a plus
• Comprehensive knowledge of European VAT and other European compliance legislation
• Familiarity with Dutch corporate VAT and tax systems (knowledge of Spanish and French systems is advantageous but not essential)
• Strong finance background with experience in ERP systems (e.g., Oracle), technology, data, and processes.
• Language skills required are English & Dutch.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Work effectively in multiple and complex systems with a strong attention to detail and organization
• A passion for our product and a willingness to learn new skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Office and ERP.
• Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.
• Excellent communication skills - written and verbal.
