Senior Manager - Manufacturing Engineering

An established, multinational manufacturing organisation in the west of Ireland is seeking a Senior Manager - Manufacturing Engineering to provide strategic and hands on leadership across a highly regulated, high reliability production environment. This is a key leadership position within the site, responsible for driving engineering excellence, compliance, cost competitiveness, and continuous improvement across multiple engineering disciplines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic and tactical leadership to the Manufacturing Engineering function, driving operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant military, aerospace and international quality standards (e.g. DLA, ISO, AS frameworks).
  • Lead cross functional initiatives to support customer demand, delivery performance and revenue targets.
  • Oversee engineering activities across electronic, mechanical and chemical/process disciplines, with a focus on yield improvement, cost reduction, compliance and reliability.
  • Act as a core member of the site senior leadership team, contributing to organisational development and long term strategy.
  • Serve as a senior engineering representative on governance and review forums including:
  • Technical & Materials Review Boards
  • Health & Safety and 6S/Lean committees
  • Automation, digitalisation and advanced manufacturing initiatives
  • Lead, coach and develop a high performing engineering team, building capability, succession and engagement.
  • Collaborate with global manufacturing and engineering teams and key suppliers to share best practices and leverage advanced test, screening and production technologies.
  • Drive automation, digitalisation and Industry 4.0 initiatives, integrating mechanical, electrical and software solutions.
  • Oversee equipment selection, appraisal and capital investment to support standardisation, safety, quality and capacity.
  • Support sustainability and ESG initiatives, including energy efficiency and environmental impact reduction.
  • Provide engineering input to planning, supply chain, commercial and other business functions.
  • Manage engineering budgets, capital expenditure proposals and ROI justifications.
  • Champion structured risk management and change management processes across engineering and operations.
Candidate Profile
  • Bachelor's Degree (Level 8 or higher) in Electronics, Manufacturing, Mechanical or related Engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years' engineering experience within highly regulated manufacturing environments (e.g. semiconductor, aerospace, medical device, defence or similar).
  • Proven experience leading and developing multi disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong grounding in electronic and mechanical fundamentals, with a practical, hands on mindset.
  • Demonstrated success delivering complex projects in fast paced, compliance driven environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior level.
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical and problem solving capability.
  • Experience working with ERP / MES / PLM systems.
  • Working knowledge of DLA, ISO and AS standards.
