The Role:
We are seeking a Senior Electronics Design Engineer to take technical ownership of electronic hardware development from concept through to production. You will play a key role in R&D delivery, act as a technical authority within the team, and support the development of engineers while working on challenging, real-world engineering problems.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Translate product requirements into robust electronic hardware designs, including architecture, schematics, PCB layout oversight, and component selection
- Lead prototype builds, board bring-up, debugging, validation, and production readiness
- Ensure designs meet performance, safety, reliability, and environmental requirements
- Apply DFM/DFA principles and support manufacturing, suppliers, and early production builds
- Manage component availability, alternates, and obsolescence risks
- Own technical decision-making, design reviews, and issue resolution
- Maintain controlled design documentation, BOMs, and compliance records
- Support R&D programme delivery by managing priorities, removing blockers, and coordinating activities
- Coach and support engineers, helping to build a capable, motivated, and high-performing team
What We Are Looking For:
- Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Proven experience delivering electronics designs from concept to production
- Strong knowledge of analogue, digital, and power electronics
- Understanding of embedded electronics and C/C++
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
- Desirable, but not essential:
- Experience with instrumentation or condition monitoring
- Knowledge of reflectometry-based technologies
- Understanding of communication theories
