Senior Electronic Engineer

Location: Munster Region, Ireland

Working Pattern: Predominantly onsite

Overview

A leading medical technology organisation in the Munster region is seeking an experienced Senior Electronic Engineer to play a key role in the design and development of advanced electro mechanical medical devices.

The position spans the full product lifecycle, from early stage technology development through to commercialisation, within a highly regulated and quality driven environment. The role sits within a growing multidisciplinary engineering team delivering high impact healthcare products used at scale.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and deliver electrical and electronic design activities for electro mechanical medical devices
  • Design electronic assemblies and printed circuit board assemblies to support new product development and lifecycle requirements
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical, software, systems, and quality engineering teams to ensure alignment with project schedules and budgets
  • Ensure electrical designs comply with applicable regulatory and safety standards including UL, IEC, and FDA requirements
  • Plan, design, and execute testing for EMI, EMC, safety, and manufacturability
  • Perform failure analysis and structured root cause investigations at system and component level
  • Create, review, and maintain technical documentation including specifications, test protocols, and test reports
  • Participate in and contribute to technical design reviews to ensure robust, safe, and compliant electrical designs
  • Support and mentor junior engineers, contributing to knowledge sharing and team capability development
Experience and Qualifications
  • Level 8 degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent practical experience
  • Five to seven years industry experience in a similar electronic engineering role
  • Strong experience in analogue, digital, and mixed signal circuit design
  • Previous experience in the medical device sector is a strong advantage
  • Good knowledge of product design controls, EMC testing, and regulated documentation practices
  • Experience working in a regulated engineering environment with robust quality and compliance requirements
  • Strong problem solving skills, high attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in cross functional teams
