Key details about the role and the candidateProvision of discipline design services for the allocated Engineering Office or Project(s).
You and the roleTime-served Electrical Designer familiar with the design, equipment and production of deliverables typically associated with offshore drilling facilities.
Primary responsibilities Safety- Demonstration of safe approach in design and working practices, following the objectives of the Office and project specific Health, Safety and Environmental Plans.
- Encouragement of attention to safety in personnel under the Lead Designer's control.
- Awareness and understanding of the business drivers within the KCA DEUTAG / Client relationship and how these can be influenced by innovative designs and fit for purpose solutions.
- Development of good working relationship with Client and site personnel.
- Use of opportunities at meetings with Clients, Vendors etc. to learn of additional work which KCA DEUTAG could undertake and to promote KCA DEUTAG's capabilities.
- During surveys and site visits, communication with Operations and Maintenance personnel to determine any opportunities where KCA DEUTAG could provide an engineering solution to existing problems or for improving the existing practice.
- Liaison with the Lead Discipline Designer to identify areas for development and to implement improvements in working practices.
- Provision of information as required by KCA DEUTAG systems.
- Training and development of Trainee Discipline Designers and assistance to Lead Discipline Engineer for training and development of Graduate Discipline Engineers.
- Adherence to the KCA DEUTAG BMS.
- Keeping up to date with technical developments, client, national and international standards and legislative requirements related to the role.
- Direct functional responsibility for fit for purpose design deliverables, delivered to schedule and budget.
- Proven experience in discipline design role with an Oilfield Operator, Drilling Contractor or Service Company
- Demonstrate competence in discipline area.
- Must be well organised, proactive and a good communicator
- Good interpersonal skills with an ability to tailor their approach to deal appropriately with all levels of contact
- An assertive and self-confident person
- Team player who demonstrates maximum flexibility and remain calm under pressure
- Deadline conscious with strong drive and initiative and ability to work well in time sensitive situations
- Understanding of the Oil & Gas sector marketplace, market forces
- Must speak and write fluent English
- Professional qualifications and member of discipline professional institution are preferred
