Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Dungannon
Working hours: Monday to Friday (Early finish Friday)
Salary: Competitive + Excellent Benefits

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and driven Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a leading manufacturing and engineering organisation. This is a key position within the Electrical Engineering Team, responsible for driving innovation, supporting new product development, and contributing to ongoing improvement projects across a range of high-quality machinery and systems.

This role would suit a technically strong engineer who enjoys problem-solving, taking ownership of design projects, and working collaboratively across multiple teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop accurate electrical schematics, bills of materials, and technical documentation.
  • Create and test PLC and HMI software (Allen Bradley & IFM systems).
  • Write and maintain functional specifications for control software.
  • Ensure project documentation and technical files are compiled and stored correctly.
  • Support operations teams with improvement and optimisation projects.
  • Contribute to cost reduction and product reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement across design and production functions.
  • Support commissioning, installation, and testing activities both in-house and on customer sites.
Project Management
  • Deliver electrical design input for new product development (NPD) projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather design requirements and ensure solutions meet customer specifications.
  • Provide ongoing technical support for existing and new product lines.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong technical expertise in designing 3-phase electrical control systems.
  • Experience with electrical automation, VFDs, and Soft Starters.
  • Hands on experience with control panel design (Zuken E3 Series / ePlan preferred).
  • Understanding of 24Vdc control systems and communication networks (EtherNet IP, CANbus, Modbus, etc.).
  • Knowledge of PLC software development (advantageous).
  • Familiarity with hydraulic systems (desirable).
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues.
  • Project management experience with the ability to deliver on time and within scope.
  • Willingness to travel when required.
