Senior Automation Engineer II
DEPARTMENT:
DevOps Engineer
ROLE PURPOSE:
This role is to design, build, and scale enterprise cloud platforms with a strong focus on automation, reliability, and developer experience. As part of the Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps team, you will build multi-cloud infrastructure that powers hundreds of production services, including critical Salesforce DevOps pipelines. You'll partner closely with development, security, and operations teams to deliver scalable, secure, and self-service platforms that accelerate business outcomes and customer value.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:
- Reduce infrastructure provisioning time through automation and self-service solutions.
- Enable development and Salesforce teams to increase release frequency while improving deployment quality.
- Drive strategic platform initiatives, including Kubernetes expansion, cost optimization, and cloud-native architecture.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Architect, build, and operate cloud platforms across Azure using Kubernetes as the core orchestration layer.
- Implement and maintain Helm charts, Service Mesh (Istio/Linkerd), and GitOps workflows.
- Lead CI/CD automation using Azure DevOps (ADO) and YAML pipelines, including Salesforce-specific pipelines.
- Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Ansible.
- Design highly reliable, scalable, and secure infrastructure supporting performance-critical workloads.
- Build proactive monitoring, observability, and alerting with Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, DataDog, and Dynatrace.
- Troubleshoot complex system issues spanning applications, networks, and infrastructure.
- Define platform SLAs, SLOs, and governance standards for self-service use.
- Collaborate closely with Salesforce DevOps teams to ensure seamless, reliable deployments.
- Participate in on-call rotations to support production and pre-production environments.
- Drive infrastructure compliance, DevSecOps, and policy-as-code practices.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or DevOps roles supporting cloud-native enterprise environments
- Proficient in Microsoft Azure and AWS platforms with hands-on experience in Kubernetes (AKS/EKS), Helm charts, and service mesh technologies such as Istio or Linkerd
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD automation using Azure DevOps, including Repos, Pipelines, and Artifacts
- Expertise in Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and Ansible, along with scripting in PowerShell, Python, or Bash
- Experience implementing GitOps workflows and managing platform SLAs, SLOs, and governance standards
- Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools including Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, DataDog, or Dynatrace
- Preferred experience supporting Salesforce DevOps pipelines and working with Java, .NET, or Node.js application environments
- Exposure to AI/ML platforms, real-time data pipelines, and basic networking (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, load balancing)
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Microsoft AZ-400, or HashiCorp Terraform Associate are advantageous
- Strong interpersonal skills including clear communication, collaboration across teams, adaptability in fast-paced environments, and a proactive mindset with a focus on reliability, performance, and developer enablement
