Job Title: Senior dbt Data Engineer

We're looking for an experienced data engineer to join a growing team and play a key role in building, enhancing and supporting scalable data pipelines. You'll be responsible for turning raw data into reliable, well-structured datasets that enable meaningful business insights, while maintaining strong standards around data quality, consistency and performance.

What you'll be doing

You'll take ownership of end-to-end data pipeline development, primarily using Azure Data Factory and Databricks Workflows to design and manage reliable orchestration processes.

A big part of your role will focus on building and refining transformation logic using dbt, ensuring models are modular, well-documented and optimised for performance.

You'll also be responsible for embedding strong data quality practices within dbt, making sure datasets are accurate, trusted and aligned to a single source of truth.

When issues arise, you'll act as a key problem solver, investigating data discrepancies, pipeline failures and performance challenges to get systems back on track quickly and effectively.

Working closely with business and technical stakeholders, you'll translate requirements into scalable data models that support reporting, analytics and wider business needs.

What we're looking for

• Strong hands-on experience with dbt Core, including macros, snapshots and documentation
• Solid background in Azure Data Factory, including pipeline development, linked services and integration runtime setup
• Experience implementing data quality frameworks such as dbt tests, Great Expectations or similar validation approaches
• Advanced SQL skills with the ability to write efficient, complex queries and interpret execution plans
• A strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to diagnose and resolve data issues quickly
• Experience working within CI/CD pipelines, ideally using Azure DevOps

Nice to have

• Python experience for data manipulation or automation tasks
