Job Description

Senior Data Engineer

 We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize enterprise-scale data platforms that support analytics, reporting, and AI-driven initiatives.

Your Profile

  • 7 + years of experience working with modern data technologies as a Data Engineer, Data Analytics Engineer, Big Data Engineer, or similar role
  • Fluent in German and English (written and spoken)
  • Authorized to work in Switzerland (applications from candidates without the necessary work authorization will not be considered)
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
Key Technical Skills
  • Strong experience with Python and SQL (minimum 7 years)
  • Proven expertise in building data ingestion pipelines, data lakes, and data warehouse architectures
  • Strong understanding of data modelling, data architecture, design patterns, and building highly scalable data solutions
  • Hands-on experience with Big Data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Apache Spark, HBase, Kafka, Impala, ELK Stack, ETL/ELT.
  • Experience with Cloudera is highly desirable
  • Experience with modern cloud data platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure (Databricks, Data Factory, Synapse), AWS, or GCP
  • Experience with Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, or similar modern data platforms
  • Strong experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL
  • Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, Git, CI/CD, and DevOps best practices
  • Experience supporting analytics, machine learning, or AI workloads is a plus
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data platforms
  • Build and optimize data lake and data warehouse solutions
  • Integrate and process data from multiple enterprise and external sources
  • Ensure data quality, performance, security, and governance standards
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and data scientists
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to technical best practices
  • Drive continuous improvements in data architecture and engineering processes
