EirGrid's Data Platform team is accelerating its Transformation Programme and is looking for a Data Engineer. As the successful candidate, you will be a member of the team that creates and operates data products that enable advanced analytics and AI, delivering value to the power system and the wholesale energy market in Ireland. You will help shape the future of the data platform discipline at EirGrid by designing, developing and maintaining data products and AI solutions that meet the strategic needs of stakeholders across the industry.
Key Responsibilities- Work closely with cross-functional teams to develop data products that will support AI solutions solving complex business challenges.
- Design, build and maintain scalable ETL pipelines, datasets, data models and infrastructure.
- Integrate data from multiple sources, ensuring data quality, consistency, and reliability.
- Implement testing, validation, and monitoring to ensure data accuracy, model performance, and solution reliability.
- Follow and contribute to updating EirGrid's version control, CI/CD and DevOps practices.
- Provide clear and reliable Data Engineering and ETL technical expertise and guidance to internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Produce clear technical documentation covering data models, pipelines, logic, and assumptions.
- Adhere to data governance, security, and privacy standards throughout the development lifecycle.
- Contribute to the evolution of internal development practices and tools.
- Collaborate in technical engagements with IT Architecture, Enterprise Security, industry stakeholders, software vendors, data consumers, etc.
- Significant experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role, typically 7 years or more.
- Experience building data pipelines and working with structured and unstructured data.
- Experience working with cloud data platforms, data lakes/warehouses, big data technologies, preferably in Azure.
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI and Microsoft Power Platform tools is advantageous. Experience with programming languages such as Python and SQL.
- Strong problem solving skills, demonstrating an understanding of inter dependencies across a complex application landscape.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with both technical and non technical stakeholders.
