The Senior Cyber Security Engineer will work closely with the Lead Cyber Security Engineer and the Cyber Security Architect to ensure that appropriate technical resources are trained and then aligned to work streams, to ensure a seamless and consistent delivery of cyber security services to agreed Service Level Agreements (SLA's) and technical standards.
The post holder will require "hands on" technical skills on a wide range of technologies to support the team in providing cyber security services. The post holder will also require strong proven communication and influencing skills and the ability to develop effective relationships across all levels of the organisation.

As well as being an experienced Senior Cyber Security Engineer the role is a "hands on" technical role which requires extensive experience of:
- Virtualisation infrastructure environments including Microsoft Hyper V & VMWare
- Mail & Web filtering tools (e.g., Clearswift, Fortinet)
- VPN solutions such as Microsoft Direct Access or Always on VPN
- Remote Desktop Services & VDI Solutions
- Backup & Recovery Solutions
- Antivirus Solutions (e.g. SOPHOS, Microsoft Defender of Endpoint)
- Vulnerability assessment & scanning solutions (e.g. IT Health Dashboard, Tenable Nessus)
- Endpoint Management Solutions including Microsoft SCCM & Intune
- Digital Infrastructure Monitoring Solutions (SolarWinds, Azure Monitor)
The South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust is responsible for the provision of ambulance services across an area of 10,000 square miles which is 20% of mainland England. As part of DDaT, the Cyber Team is delivering cyber security services to the Trust, supporting the Trust's strategic objectives to create a sustainable and progressive organisation that's data and digitally driven.

Person Specification Education and qualifications- Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant IT/ technical discipline.
- Vendor specific qualifications from Microsoft or others as relevant (score 1 if met).
- Holds a current ITIL v4 Foundation/Practitioner certificate or a lapsed ITIL v3 Foundation/Practitioner certificate or equivalent experience (score 1 if met).
- Knowledge of specialist areas as listed above, acquired through graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to graduate level equivalent (score 1 for each met, max score of 5 for this sub item).
- Over 3 years working experience in the NHS IT or similar background either in the Public and/or Private sector.
- Experience of supporting enterprise level critical cyber security infrastructure.
