What Is the Opportunity?

This is an excellent opportunity to join our growing Business Intelligence team. The Business Insights Delivery team aims to build solutions that turn data into insights with well-designed data assets and effective dashboards and visualizations.

As a Senior Consultant within Business Insights Delivery, you will:

  • Create proof of concepts and prototypes as part of the requirement gathering and specification process.
  • Perform intermediate data profiling, metadata documentation, data lineage, data transformation rules in support of offshore development.
  • Be responsible for the development, automating, compiling, and preparing reports, dashboards, cubes, etc.
  • Work with other organizational units and resources to gather, analyze and present data to other parts of the Actuarial and Analytics department for further analysis.

This position is an intermediate level role, requiring some previous Information Delivery experience.

Travelers Europe currently offers flexibility to employees who wish to work on a hybrid basis in accordance with our Hybrid Work Arrangements Policy. This entails full-time employees working three days a week in the office and two days at home (or pro-rata for part-time employees). This policy may be changed at the Company's discretion.

What Will You Do?
  • Work with Business Engagement function in the creation of Proof of concepts to explore new ideas and data sources and validate business value.
  • Develop business and data transformation rules, apply data profiling and/or application logic.
  • Create prototypes to clarify business requirements and aid specification ready for offshore development.
  • Create specification documents suitable for offshore development to build production-ready business intelligence reports and self-service tools.
  • Work with the Information Delivery lead to create high-level design documents satisfying the business requirements.
  • Define, plan, and execute unit and functional / integration testing; complete system testing as appropriate.
  • Support the transition and production process; develop documentation (Knowledge Acquisitions Process document) for all deliverables before moving to production to support ongoing maintenance.
  • Create datasets that combine multiple data sources for further analysis by others.
  • Consult with IT to identify data sources and/or changes to underlying reporting systems and application enhancements to support reporting requirements.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of production defects under general supervision.
  • Participate in the development of project plans and carry out assigned tasks.
  • Understand overall data models, data relationships, mapping lineage, business and data transformation rules, and participate in creating data models (e.g., entity design and population).
  • Expand knowledge of Business Intelligence products and tools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
  • Knowledge of software change control processes.
  • Knowledge of Business Objects and/or QlikView.
  • Understanding of insurance products/concepts.
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies and Rally application.
  • Experience with Entity Relationship Diagrams, Data flow diagrams, and Dimensional modelling.
  • Knowledge of Exploratory data analysis techniques.
  • Experience with Quality Center.
  • Understanding of basic principles and terminology to solve simple problems.
  • Intermediate analytic, diagnostic, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  • Business Intelligence certification preferred.
What is a Must Have?
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM or equivalent business experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Proficiency with SQL and Relational Databases.
  • Knowledge of Information Delivery practices and processes.
  • Sufficient knowledge to perform most work in normal situations.
