We have an exciting opportunity for experienced registered healthcare professional to join the Research and Innovation Directorate at University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust. This is a fantastic opportunity for a registered professional with experience in Oncology/Haematology to further develop skills within research, contributing to improving and changing the future care of patients.
We are seeking a confident and experienced registered healthcare professional with Oncology or Haematology experience, who is passionate about delivering high quality care, who enjoys a challenge and would welcome the opportunity to develop research. You will provide specialist skills and knowledge to support the running of clinical research in Oncology or Haematology trials, both commercial and non-commercial. You will work within the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring a smooth delivery of care to patients in Oncology or Haematology clinical trials. You need to be an excellent team player, have good communication skills, excellent time management skills and attention to detail is a must.
Main duties of the jobThe successful applicant will be part of the Research Delivery Team which involves recruiting patient participants into clinical trials, carrying out trial activity in line with the ethically approved protocol and in accordance with legislation. You will be responsible for supporting the Oncology and Haematology team and the Research Team in meeting its responsibilities for continuing and raising recruitment into NIHR portfolio studies, including commercial and non-commercial studies in Oncology and Haematology.
This is a 12-month secondment opportunity with two vacancies, one in Oncology and one in Haematology.
The successful applicants must have experience in Oncology and/or Haematology.

Person Specification Education/Training- Current NMC registration (Adult RN1/ RNA) (Nurses only). To be accredited or working towards accreditation on the AHCS Accredited Register for CRPs and to maintain continued registration (CRPs only).
- Degree or Diploma in Nursing (Nurses only)
- Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Research or Life sciences (CRPs only)
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- Current ICH GCP certificate
- HTA and IATA training
- Minimum of two years' post registration clinical experience in an acute NHS environment
- Experience in Oncology or Hematology nursing/ equivalent experience (CRPs only)
- Experience of dealing with conflict and non compliance successfully
- Experience of recruiting participants to clinical trials or research projects
- Experience of using various EDC systems
- Perform pre analytical sample processing
- Understanding of Clinical research methodology
- Excellent problem solving skills.
- Computer literacy and proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint and Excel Spreadsheet and Outlook to at least intermediate level.
- Venipuncture and Cannulation skills
- Oral and IV/ subcutaneous drug administration competent/ equivalent experience in handling IMP (For CRPs)
- Perform ECGs, Spirometry and any other clinical procedures mandated by study protocol
- Willingness to work flexibly to cover service needs between Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm
- Ability to work late/ twilight shifts and night shifts where needed
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Willingness to work across all Trust sites as required
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Diplomatic and calm under pressure
- Ability to work independently and autonomously and as part of a team
- Adaptable and willing to learn new skills
- Ability to multi task
