(Senior) Clinical Research Fellow in Sexual Health, HIV, and Infectious Diseases

The UCL Institute for Global Health (IGH) is at the heart of UCL's Grand Challenge of Global Health. The Institute's vision is for a world where international policy on global health is informed by world class research. IGH aims to support the development of robust solutions to aspects of the world's major global health challenges through scholarly outputs, education, public engagement, translational research and ultimately by influencing public policy and professional practice.
The post is in the Centre for Clinical Research in Infection and Sexual Health in IGH. We have a large research programme covering a diverse range of studies from observational cohort studies to treatment trials for HIV infection, other sexually transmitted infections and viral hepatitis. We have an expanding programme of studies on STI prevention including vaccine and prophylaxis studies, as well as in social and implementation science.
About the roleThe Clinical Research Fellow/Senior Clinical Research Fellow will gain broad experience of the design and implementation of clinical research studies through providing day to day support for our portfolio of on-going clinical trials and observational studies. They will have the opportunity to develop their own clinical research projects and will be supported to apply for doctoral or specialist training (as appropriate). There will be opportunities to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
This role is available from 1 st July 2026 for 12 months in the first instance.
An acceptable enhanced DBS check is required to carry out this role.

Appointment will be at Grade CL7 unless the applicant has completed research experience and/or a research degree and/or specialist training when appointment will be made at Grade CL8.
Salary range:
CL7: £45,943 - £57,397 per annum (including London Allowance)
CL8: £57,397 - £65,056 per annum (including London Allowance)

About youThis is an exciting opportunity for a clinical trainee with experience in sexual health, HIV medicine or infectious diseases to gain experience in clinical research. Candidates may be wishing to gain research and clinical experience prior specialist training or may be in specialist training and taking out-of-programme experience.
The successful candidate must have:
- Full registration with the General Medical Council with a licence to practice
- Clinical experience in GUM/HIV and/or infectious diseases
- Clinical experience of managing patients with HIV on antiretroviral therapy
- Knowledge of STIs and HIV medicine
- Experience working within the UKs National Health Service (the NHS)
