Job Description
Overview

We are offering an 8a Senior Clinical Psychology post in our community CAMHS team. The position is based in Conwy or Denbighshire and offers a development route from Band 7 to the senior 8a role.

The post-holder will join a diverse and vibrant multidisciplinary team in a fully integrated Early Intervention and Prevention and Tier 3 Specialist CAMH service, delivering primary and secondary mental health care for children and young people. The service provides a range of therapeutic interventions including DBT, CBT, EMDR, Systemic Family Psychotherapy, Art Psychotherapy, CAT, the Maudsley Model for Anorexia and Child Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a specialised clinical psychology service to clients, including assessment and therapy.
  • Work autonomously in accordance with the British Psychological Society Code of Conduct, Ethical Principles and Guidelines 2004, and Health and Care Professions Council regulations.
  • Exercise delegated responsibility for the management and supervision of assistant psychologists and trainee workload within the team/service policies.
  • Contribute to the development of local team policies and procedures to improve service quality.
  • Advise service and professional management on psychological and organisational matters.
  • Provide professional and clinical supervision for designated staff.
  • Provide clinical placements and supervision for Doctoral level trainee clinical psychologists and deliver training to other professionals.
  • Utilise specialised research skills for audit, policy and service development and research.
  • Act as a panel member in the recruitment of designated staff when required.
  • Welsh language ability is desirable; candidates speaking Welsh and/or English are equally welcome to apply.
Person Specification
  • Good honours Degree in Psychology.
  • Eligibility for British Psychological Society Chartered status.
  • Post graduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent accredited by the British Psychological Society).
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Clinical Psychologist.
  • Clinical supervision training for Doctoral Trainees.
  • Knowledge of clinical psychology theory and practice, psychological therapies, neuropsychological and psychometric assessment and interpretation.
  • Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including multivariate data analysis.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management.
  • Post doctoral training courses in specific areas of clinical psychology.
  • Knowledge of specialised psychological therapies for specific difficult to treat groups (e.g. personality disorder, dual diagnoses, and people with additional disabilities).
  • Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies.
Experience
  • Substantial assessed experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist, normally including significant post qualification experience within the designated speciality where the post is located, or relevant transferable skills.
  • Demonstration of further specialist training/experience through extensive and demonstrable clinical supervision of work as a clinical psychologist.
  • Experience of specialised psychological assessment and treatment of a range of clients across a wide range of care settings.
  • Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care, including coordinating care within multidisciplinary care planning.
  • Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
  • Experience of applying clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.
  • Experience of representing psychology within a multidisciplinary care context.
