We are looking for an Clinical Psychologist to join our inpatient CAMHS team at the Becton Centre, providing specialist care to young people with complex mental health needs across three inpatient units: Sapphire, Emerald, and Ruby Lodge.

You will:

Deliver psychological assessments and therapy to children and young people, contributing to their psychological care and treatment.

Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team, including Psychiatry, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, and other therapeutic disciplines.

Receive support from a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, with access to a network of professionals and opportunities for professional development, CPD, and cross-training within the Trust's child services.

We are open to applications from recently qualified or soon-to-be qualified Clinical Psychologists as well as those with more experience whom we will consider offering the post to at 8A level.

Main duties of the job

Reporting into the Lead Consultant Clinical Psychologist, your responsibilities will include:

Deliver direct clinical work (individual, parent, and group therapy) and contribute to the therapeutic milieu.

Lead team formulations and interventions, working with multidisciplinary colleagues to support patient care.

Conduct assessments and contribute to the formulation and treatment of children with complex mental health needs and learning disabilities.

Support the stabilisation and discharge process, working with families and carers to facilitate positive change.

Collate information for specialist assessments, including neurodevelopmental considerations.

Provide clinical leadership, promoting collaboration with colleagues, families, young people, and community partners.

Person Specification Experience

• Experience of clinical work with children and families.
• Experience of specialist psychological assessment and therapeutic interventions with children and young people with mental health problems and their families.
• Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision
• Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts
• Experience of working with children and young people in a range of clinical settings
• Experience of the application of clinical psychology in specific to this role

Qualifications

• Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS.
• Registration with HCPC as a clinical psychologist (or other domain title as agreed).
• Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.

Knowledge and skills

• Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
• Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
• Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
• Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.
• Some knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.
• Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups (e.g. personality disorder, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities etc)
• High level knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised psychological therapies
• Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in children with physical health difficulties
