Job Description
Senior Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Neurology and Epilepsy Weare looking for a keen and enthusiastic doctor to join the Paediatric Neurologyand Epilepsy Team at the Leeds Childrens Hospital.

Alltertiary Paediatric services are centred in the Leeds Childrens Hospital,within Leeds General Infirmary in Leeds city centre which has excellenttransport links.
Thesuccessful applicant will work alongside 4 consultants in paediatric neurology,4 in paediatric neurosurgery and 1 in neurodisability. They are supported by afull complement of highly committed specialist therapists and nurses providingexcellent multidisciplinary care.
Theteam are committed to delivering excellent care to children with neurologicaldisorders in Yorkshire and are fully engaged with clinical governance andresearch.
This will be aimed at a senior resident doctor withappropriate SPIN epilepsy experience at the level of ST7 or ST8, or a post CCTdoctor in paediatrics
Main duties of the job Thisis a 40-hour post with no on call commitments.
The post holder will spend on average 1 day/ week in award based role and 4 days/week undertaking outpatient duties. The outpatientduties will be within the epilepsy service

Inpatientservices are based at LTHT within a dedicated paediatric neurosciences unit.Outpatient clinics are held in Leeds and within all hospitals in the region aspart of the Yorkshire Paediatric Neurology and Neurosurgery Network.Subspecialty clinics are provided in epilepsy, neuro-oncology,neuro-rehabiliation, neuromuscular disease and complex motor disorders. Job responsibilities Thesuccessful applicant will have both inpatient and outpatient duties
Theywill need to be confident in the assessment of sick children and have a goodunderstanding of the challenges of managing complex multisystem disorders anddiseases of the brain and spinal cord.
Theywill need experience of working in a multidisciplinary team and haveexcellent verbal and written communication skills
Theyneed to be enthusiastic, keen to learn and demonstrate commitment todelivering high quality care as part of the neurosciences team.
DUTIESOF THE POST
Thisis a 40-hour post with no on call commitments.
Thepost holder will spend on average 1 day/ week in a ward based role and 4days/week undertaking outpatient duties. The outpatient duties will be withinthe epilepsy service.
Epilepsyclinic activity
2-3clinics per week with dedicated time for NORCESS administration andneurophysiology. There will be dedicated time for CPD to facilitateparticipation in research and governance projects.
Thepostholder will be able to develop their understanding of research andsupport will be provided to assist with for projects/publications/presentations. There will opportunities to attend at relevant conferences andcourses.
Thepostholder will actively contribute to neurophysiology, epilepsy surgery andneuroradiology meetings.
Wardwork:
Assessmentand initial management of acute admissions to the neurosciences ward. Day today care of inpatients on the neurosciences ward including completion ofEDANS and discharge letters on days when providing ward cover
Attendanceand contribution to multidisciplinary meetings and teaching activities. It isanticipated this will be one day a week.
Governance:
Thepostholder will participate in departmental governance activities, includingaudit, service evaluation and risk management
Thepostholder will be encouraged to participate in the departmental teachingprogramme and to actively contribute to meetings.
LEVELSOF RESPONSIBILITY
Thiswill depend on the successful applicants previous experience. This will beaimed at a senior resident doctor with appropriate SPIN epilepsy experienceat the level of ST7 or ST8, or a post CCT doctor in paediatrics .
Inthe outpatient clinic the post holder will be supported by the Epilepsy MDT.Clinics will be supervised by the epilepsy consultants with planned meetingspost clinic.
TEACHINGAND RESEARCH/STUDY AND TRAINING
Thereis an active programme of teaching in the neurosciences department and many opportunities to extend andconsolidate knowledge. The postholder will be encouraged to participate intutorials, case presentations, journal clubs and attending relevant studydays internal and within the region.
