Senior Clinical Fellow in Intestinal Failure

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and hard working clinical fellow (equivalent to ST4 or above) in Nutrition and Intestinal Failure at University Hospital of Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust. This 12 month role offers the chance to work within a thriving multidisciplinary nutrition team in a large Intestinal Failure centre, commissioned to provide Type 2 and 3 IF care to patients from a wide area of the West Midlands. The post can be tailored to the applicant's training needs but focuses on inpatient and outpatient management of patients requiring enteral and parenteral nutrition support.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will manage inpatients with Types 1, 2 and 3 Intestinal Failure and review patients on home parenteral support in the outpatient clinic. They will also be involved in reviewing patients requiring enteral nutrition support. They will work as an integral part of the multidisciplinary nutrition team, attend the weekly IF MDT, IBD MDT, and the monthly Nutrition Steering Committee. The post will also include general gastroenterology experience, including clinics and endoscopy training lists.
This role is ideal for registrars interested in pursuing a career in luminal gastroenterology, particularly Intestinal Failure.
The role includes opportunities for audit and research participation and engagement with postgraduate teaching programmes within the hospital. Involvement in national Intestinal Failure initiatives is possible for an interested candidate. Educational supervision will be provided.

Job responsibilities and requirementsApplicants must have full registration with the General Medical Council and be eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. The applicant must hold MRCP (UK) and have experience in Gastroenterology, and should have completed or be currently undertaking the Gastroenterology registrar training programme. As part of our commitment to patients and the delivery of a world class service, we have created the UHCW Improvement (UHCWi) System in partnership with the Virginia Mason Institute in Seattle. You are expected to attend and complete relevant training and development opportunities, such as Lean for Leaders, Advanced Lean Training and the Human Factors Programme - full attendance is considered essential for this post.
